(Origami Concept) Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The “valley” fold and the “mountain” fold are two of Origami’s basic steps which are used to achieve most of the folded shapes. A number of 3D origami shapes can be achieved and generally you would start with the paper being placed on a flat surface. The TR Origami technique is achieved similarly, by first folding over the pattern pieces on a flat surface to achieve 3D origami shaped effects once reconstructed. First of all you need to design your diagonal TR style lines on the block you want to adapt. Mark notches on your designed fold lines before dismantling the pattern to facilitate its reconstruction later on. Flatten and cut out your pattern pieces, then using the cut and spread method insert pleats in between each designed fold line. Use pieces of paper and masking tape for this task. The width of these pleats should at least be 5 to 6cm in depth, to help them remain sturdy and retain their shape once constructed. As the pleated accordion structures take shape, you will notice that sections of your folded pattern will shift and that diagonal seams may to no longer match up. Here you should refer back to the pre-marked notches on your fold lines, re-measure them and then readjust your pattern pieces. Re-measure and match the folded spaces of seams as well as the fold line lengths on adjoining zigzag seams. When you resolve these critical points and have correctly added your seam allowances …

Check us out at www.tutorvista.com Parts of a Flowering Plant Flowering plants, also called angiosperms, are the most numerous of all the divisions in the Plant Kingdom. The parts of a flowering plant are characterized by two basic systems: a root system and a shoot system. These two systems are connected by vascular tissue that runs from the root through the shoot. The root system enables flowering plants to obtain water and nutrients from the soil. The shoot system allows plants to reproduce and to obtain food through photosynthesis. Root System The roots of a flowering plant are very important. They keep the plant anchored in the ground and obtain nutrients and water from the soil. The roots also store food. Nutrients and water are absorbed through tiny root hairs that extend from the root system. All roots however, do not originate underground. Some plants have roots that originate above ground from stems or leaves. These roots provide support for the stems. Shoot System Flowering plant stems, leaves, and flowers make up the plant shoot system. Plant stems provide support for the plant and allow nutrients and water to travel throughout the plant. Within the stem and throughout the plant are tube-like tissues called xylem and phloem. These tissues carry water, food, and nutrients to all parts of the plant. The leaves are the sites of food production for the flowering plant. It is here that the plant acquires light energy and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and …
