Do you like this tattoo idea?

I want to get a small (half-dollar size) tattoo of an apple mainly because I’ll have my teaching credential soon and it represents my love for being a teacher, and also it represents health. Also, I’m really into school and about to get my A.A. degree, so it would signify that.

Also, my dad is really into gardening and has a small orchard in our backyard, so it would sort of represent the relationship I have with him. Is this idea too farfetched, since he *has* grown apples before, but he mostly grows citrus?

Also, I would like my mother to draw it (she’s a fantastic artist) so that aspect of the tattoo would represent her, but she’s not gonna be happy *at all* that I’m getting a tattoo. :/ Should I ask her anyway?

And, I’d like to get it on my shoulder blade. Is that a good place for it?
Oh, and about how much would it cost somewhere in Southern California at a good parlor? It will have the basic apple colors- red fruit, green leaf, brown stem and the size of a half dollar.

  3. that sounds awesome. tattoos are always better if they have meaning like yours would! Also this has nothing to do with what you said, but i had a geometry teacher tattoo the identity matrix on her hand and i thought it was really cool too.

  4. that sounds amazing! i love your idea. if you don’t want to tell your mom why you need her to draw it up, just say you want some of her artwork. no matter what size she draws it, your artist should be able to resize it! plus it would be a nice suprise for her after its done. be honest then, tell her your reasoning. she should be glad its not something meaningless! as for placement, id go closer to the center of your upper back. maybe even a little up on your neck, but in the range to be able to cover it up (if need be). for future thinking..it will be small enough and in a good place to add to. if you wanted to expand it to a full fruit tree (add citrius that your dad grows now, bring it more up-to-date). not really sure on pricing..in Pa it would probably be about $70.. good luck tho, again sounds like a fantastic idea!!

  5. I understand your apprehension about this seeing as it is your first tattoo. But I have to tell you ignore advise that you receive online (and yes i know that is contradicting as this is online) but tattoos have to be personal, something you want, how you want it, where you want. i only have one tattoo on me that i hate and it was a spur of the moment tattoo that i didn’t design or think about(not bad considering that i’m about 20 percent covered)in regard to choosing where to put it. have a friend draw in on with a marker and check it out if you think it’s a good place if not wash it off and try another spot(ink is easily removed until it’s drawn with a needle instead of a pin) make sure your happy with it’s location because i promise you laser removal hurts a lot worse than getting a tattoo.

  6. inexperienced college gal...

tatoo ideas sounds great but i would just suggest that you wait four or five months before you get it done. in my experience alot of people end up changing their mind. if you still want to get it done then-go for it.
