What is this growing in my yard??

I planted mammoth sunflowers last year and next to it grew which looks like a sunflower plant but there was no flowers on it just a weird green thing growing out of the top. Well this year in that same area theres about 25 more tall plants growing there. They look just like sunflower plants tall and same kinda leaves but no flowers just that weird green bunch on top. I tried lookin it up for days and I dont see anything like it.
Could it be an herb that looks like that and grows that tall? Maybe whoever lived here before us grew something there. I have no idea. I dont want to pick it if its goin to be a pretty flower or something but then again if its nothing I want it out.
Tanks hope someone can help. Oh Im in central california if that helps at all.
damselch..nope doesnt look like that, i know thats a sunflower gettin ready to open…..

Vegetables/herbs for dry garden?

I have an area that I am starting up as a vege garden, but am having trouble due to it drying out and stunting the plants

I water as much as i can and even use a deep root waterer, but unless I do it every day, the plants start to shrivel.

The garden is mulched, soil is poor(quite sandy). I have introduced some compost and manure and the organic material has nearly gone already.

What are some vegetables herbs or other edible/useful plants that I could grow?

What herbs would grow outside and come back next year in the Denver Colorado area?

I’ve tried growing them indoors and keep killing them, so I thought I’d try outside now that I have moved into a home with a great garden.

Thanks!

Wild herbs in New hampshire?

I live in new hampshire, and I have a pretty steep area of forest in my neighborhood, where would I find any kind of herb around here? I have to grow specifics to cook with (obviously) but I was curious to see if there was anything easily identifiable around here.

What flowers would grow best for North Texas??

I live in North Texas around the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I can’t get any flowers to grow good. Either they need shade but it’s too hot or they need sun but our yard is kind of shaded. What is a good flower that will live and preferably are annuals.

What is the meaning of sticking a toilet in your front yard?

A few people around my area “Iowa in United States” have been placing toilets in their front yard. Some grow flowers in them. This all started before 9/11. I have never really understood or heard the meaning of it.

What veggies can I grow in my area?

I live in Northern California where it is sunny and warm (no rain, will have to water manually) through the months of April-September. I would like to start a vegetable garden, maybe some herbs also. What would be a good starter garden for me? I would like to know what veggies/herbs I can grow and have a good turn out, and also maybe a how-to link as this is my first time. Also, what is the turn around time from planting to kitchen table? Any help is greatly appreciated :) TY!

How can I make a raised bed garden cheaply without wood working experience?

I would like to make a raised bed garden for my vegetables this year. The area I have to work with is 14′x6′ and I’d like to make a couple of boxes (both squares and rectangular) to go into that area. I plan to grow lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and a couple misc. vegetables. I would like to do this in the most cost effective way because I’m just a cheap person, but I’d also like it to look nice. I would love the beds to be made of wood, but the lumber isle of the hardware store is scary. Let alone trying to get the lumber home and heaven forbid I have to cut the wood. I think you get the idea. I see a lot of nice kits online, but once again I’m just too cheap to buy them when I think I can make something nice myself. Any ideas?
