Donna’s Square Foot Vegetable Garden, Part 1 of 50

Vegetable garden inspired after Mel Bartholomew’s book “All New Square Foot Gardening”, creating a small garden in limited space. if you like this idea, please read the book and follow Mel’s perfected plan! I chose to add some of my own touches….but ,please, don’t change the soil mix as stated in the book! This is truly a wonderful, easy way to garden! (This comment updated 1 year after first video!) i have vine type tomatos growing indoors, nice vines, but no flowers yet?

i have them in southern exposure ,on a bay window sill.along with some peppers.i have pinched back the tops .to limit height to about 2 to 3 feet tall.branches are about a foot long.leafs are very nice.plants look healthy.leafs are curled a little at times.i have installed a grow light strip above them.and allow them about 6 hours of light at night.i am allowing the suckers to grow in the arch of each stem at this point.they are the first suckers.i pinch the tops off after they start.i have had thease growing since, late october.and i have not seen any blossoms yet.is it because they are indoors, and will get flowers a little later.? seem to be health at this point.but i feel they should have flowers by now.any help would be great.thanks.
they are near the window, and i think night time temps are no lower than 65 to 68 in here.but the window is in the kitchen, and we use the oven alot too.is this warm enough?

I need help identifying a flower?

It is pretty small. It grows on a stalk to about half a foot high with the leaves wrung around the stem and very wavy looking. It has long purple flowers at the top that acording to my friends at school say are edible. I’m not sure about that. It’s native to the south (I think. It grows everywhere) and I can tell by the smell that it’s an herb. Any ideas? pictures would help.

square foot cinder block garden 1 may 16

This is a video of my square foot garden built with cider blocks.

Which plant should I grow???

I have a room in my basement that I would like to turn into a room where I grow plants/nursury. It is about 10 feet by 10 feet with 7 foot ceilings. What would be a good plant to grow underneath the lightings, that serves a purpose of some sort. I’m looking for a plant that has a function such as an herb or one that can be stored, as a pose to flowers. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

flower help please… what is this???

I planted poppy and nasturtium seeds last Spring. I have a 4 foot plant growing that has little blackish pods and some yellow flowers and I have no idea what this is…any ideas? It has large green leaves that are very soft to the touch, yet they are thick and hardy. They resemble leaves on an eggplant and they are heart shaped.
The pods are the size of a small strawberry. They resemble the shape of an acorn. And they are gray and black. I broke one open and it had soft, white seeds inside.
I just found out it is a weed called velvetleaf.

Name of weed?

Need name of weed. Greeen. Grows over a foot tall. Leaves 3-4 in. long, ½ in. wide. Where leaf attaches to stem are two 3/8 in. circular leaves opposing one another, like wings.

Leaves are thin. Rounded sightly but easily perceptible sawtooth edges. Est 3-4 wks to get a foot tall. No vine formation. No root extensions for propagation. Assume will produce flower and seeds if I wait long enough.
