I am making a 3-D model of the island “Ithaca” from Homer’s The Odyssey. My base is a 16 by 20 inch (or about 41 by 61 cm) cardboard platform that I am going to cover with gesso paste and paint. So on the island their is a fruit orchard, a vineyard, and a poplar forest, and I have know idea how to make realistic 3-D trees. I don’t want to use paper trees (like this: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1380/1011045767_dcd45e8055.jpg) or store bought trees and they have to be pretty small- about and inch or two (or 2.5 – 5cm) tall per tree. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I am looking for the Island that would have these three mystery items on it. The fountain, the berry bush and the Ironwood tree. Would anyone happen to know the number? Or is there a pattern in the numbers to get what island you want?
Wouldn’t it be awesome to get a group of people together and move to a tropical island where its always warm, spending the days fishing and swimming on the white sand beaches. We could have a gigantic vegetable garden and ample seafood and eat native tropical fruits. Hell yeah!

You’re 18 years old. You live on an island, but to the east you can see land.
You know, because it is written in The Olk, a book that has been passed down through the generations, and because you have been told since before you can remember that you must NOT leave the island or you will be submitted to torture for the rest of your very existence.
Yet the island is struggling with famine. Your family is dying because there is no food. And across the water you see fat, roaming beasts and lush forests with fruit and vegetables growing from the trees and ground.
You browse your copy of The Book, looking for any loophole, anything allowing you to cross that placid water and bring back food. In one trip you could kill a beast that would feed your family for a week.
But The Olk says you cannot. It says that the food is a test and that by letting your family die a horrible death by starvation you are showing your faith and will be rewarded.
Do you go get the food?
“Nothing written in a book is infallible…even those considered spiritual writings. Use your good sense…God is love. Love does not see people starve.”
WOW. You must not be Christian because the Christian God loves to see people suffer.
