What is Germany like as a place to grow up?

Regrettably, I’m not in a position to fly to Germany to experience it at this time, yet I need to do some research for a story that includes a girl growing up in Germany. To be accurate, the girl lived in a modest house – her father was considerably successful – that was embedded in an apple orchard. She grew up there until she was about five.
So what is Germany like growing up? Like, in terms of the neighborhoods, the pastimes (like sports), what the seasons are like, the people, the schools. Anything will be helpful, including how this may be observed and taken in as a young child in Germany.

i am new in gardening and i want our place to be surrounded by colorful plants and flowers but i am just no so sure what will thrive in our country – tropical climate, avg temp here is 28-30 C, and we only have dry and wet seasons.

What might this dream mean?

When it starts out, I wake up in a field with many different types of flowers growing and streching as far as the eye can see. Its really beautiful, so I start to stroll through the feild and feel the different types of flora. Then I start to worry because I’m in an unfamiliar place with no idea of how I got there. I don’t have a compass or any landmarks to follow, so I figure that if I walk far enough in one direction I’ll eventually get to another place. So I walk and then I feel like a time lapse. And I’m extrememly tired like I’ve been walking for a realy long time. Then, I finally get to this beach. And I’m so thristy that I try to drink the seawater, but forget you can’t drink seawater and a vomit. I then pick myself up and take a seat on the beach as I look around. There’s no dock or a boat or any sign of civilization. But I don’t feel afraid anymore. I feel at peace as I just stare out at the ocean and watch the waves roll.

I live in upstate NY which is growing zone 5. One of my neighbors has a hibiscus with large 6 inch maroon flowers. The place where she bought it went out of business and I would like to know where I can get one. Thank you.

What interesting Jamaican recipes can you share?

I’m doing research into Jamaican cuisine and I’m pretty amazed that here in the UK the same 8-10 dishes appear in every place I have ever visited.
Jerk Chicken/meat
Fried Chicken
Escovitch Fish
Stewed Fish
Ackee and Salt-fish
Mutton Curry
Rice and Peas
Fried Dumplings
– with thyme being in everything – you get the picture.
Now I know Jamaican food must have evolved over the years, and more than one herb grows there. It has access to ample sea food and has been influenced by many cultures

If you know of any interesting recipes or new takes on classics then much appreciated. I am especially interested in healthy recipes due to the high rate of diabetes and heart problems in Jamaicans.

I don’t care about the cost. I just want to get the best available. I had no idea how some people get so attached to their flowers. I asume that there is something about rhododendrons that put them over the top. Ok, so a few of them got crushed. They grow back. My neighbor has already taken a couple of shots at me. He’s blind so I have been lucky so far. But he might get in a random hit on me. I think I would feel better if I had a little body protection.

Pardon me Mac, but me good pal Elmer just had a stroke. He’ll be okay and all, but will be in da hospital awhile. He asked me ta look after his place ’til he gets home. I thought I’d do him a favor & spruce up da joint alittle. He’s got all these stink’n flowers & Roses & stuff like that grow’n every where. A regular floral nightmare. So me odder pal Daffy & me started clear’n out all this hayfever fodder. It’s no wonder Elmer had a stroke. Me & Daffy just chopped down at least a hunderd stink’n rose bushes. So I waz-a think’n why not plant something usefull in place of all these petunias & junk Elmer was grow’n ? Why not some nice, big, juicy carrots? Okay Mac, this is where you come in, so pay attention. Need to know the names of some wreally super big, hybrid carrots to plant & some pointers on how ya grow um? I want to wreally surprize Elmer when he gets out-a-da hospital & sees what we did to his garden. Gota help daffy dig out more of dem roses, so let me know, ok Mac?
