Rose Garden – Dolly Parton

Essa música me toca, por causa que era a música que minha mãe adorava e eu passei a gostar por osmose, fora que a letra é muito linda!

Why Do Plants Smell More Pleasant Than Humans?

Unlike man, plants (think sandal wood) have extremely pleasant odours. A rose or a carnation never stinks, despite the fact that it grows in soil and remains in an environment of dust and dirt. However, man can hardly achieve such a permanent fragrance, no matter how much he cares for his body.
Have you ever thought why Man is created with so many weaknesses? Why God created flowers with beautiful fragrances but made the human body prone to produce an unpleasant scent?
The weaknesses of Man are not limited to body odours: he gets tired and hungry, feels weak, gets injured, becomes nauseated, sick…

Any Rose gardeners, PLEASE HELP!?

The Wild Rose

The Wild Rose

The Wild Rose is a part of the sweeping, multi-generational saga that began with The Tea Rose and continued with The Winter Rose. It is London, 1914. World War I looms on the horizon, women are fighting for the right to vote, and explorers are pushing the limits of endurance in the most forbidding corners of the earth. Into this volatile time, Jennifer Donnelly places her vivid and memorable characters:

–Willa Alden, a passionate mountain climber who lost her leg while summiting Kilimanjaro with Seamus Finnegan, and who will never forgive him for saving her life;

–Seamus Finnegan, a polar explorer who tries to forget Willa as he marries a beautiful young schoolteacher back home in England

–Max von Brandt, a handsome German sophisticate who courts high society women, but has a secret agenda in wartime London.

Many other beloved characters from The Winter Rose continue their adventures in The Wild Rose as well. With myriad twists and turns, thrilling cliffhangers, and fabulous period detail and atmosphere, The Wild Rose provides a highly satisfying conclusion to an unforgettable trilogy.

Praise for The Winter Rose

“If Jennifer Donnelly doesn’t watch out, she’s going to get a reputation. With the publication of The Winter Rose, she proves that her first fast, fat and fun historical novel–The Tea Rose–wasn’t a fluke. She’s a master of pacing and plot, with enough high points scattered throughout to keep your pulse racing . . . I read the last third at near-choking speed . . . I imagine you will, too.”
Washington Post Book World

“I loved this book. It is truly seductive, hard to put down, filled with mystery, secret passions, unique locations, and a most engaging heroine . . . She captivates from the first page to the last.”
–Barbara Taylor Bradford, author of A Woman of Substance and Playing the Game

“Mix Gangs of New York, Romeo and Juliet, and Oliver Twist, and get a passionate tale propelled by sophisticated plotting, cleverly disguised motives, and intriguingly entangled characters.”
Booklist

“A lush story of epic proportions . . . Donnelly peoples her book with larger-than-life characters whose tragedies and triumphs lift your heart and soul.”

Mercy, The (The Rose Trilogy)

Rose Kauffman pines for prodigal Nick Franco, the Bishop’s foster son who left the Amish under a cloud of suspicion after his foster brother’s death. His rebellion led to the “silencing” of their beloved Bishop. But is Nick really the rebel he appears to be? Rose’s lingering feelings for her wayward friend refuse to fade, but she is frustrated that Nick won’t return and make things right with the People. Nick avowed his love for Rose–but will he ever be willing to sacrifice modern life for her?

Meanwhile, Rose’s older sister, Hen, is living in her parents’ Dawdi Haus. Her estranged “English” husband, injured and helpless after a car accident, has reluctantly come to live with her and their young daughter during his recovery. Can their marriage recover, as well? Is there any possible middle ground between a woman reclaiming her old-fashioned Amish lifestyle and thoroughly modern man?

How do you start growing a rose from a piece of stem with no apparent root showing?

I was given a Long Stem White Rose which I placed in a vase with water. The Rose never fully bloomed. Instead, the stem started showing growth and the flower completely died. I cannot see any sign of rooting. How do I accomplish beginning a root base for the stem to continue producing growth for planting?
How short should I cut the stem before rooting? Should it be directly below the new growth or should I leave a substantial portion of stem, and how deep should I plant the stem?
