I am planting tomatoes, peppers, onions, green beans, and peas. I also have a herb garden and strawberry patch.
Normally half way though the summer when everything is growing fabulously, bugs appear and destroy all my hard work!
Any body have any advice, I am located in the midwest thanks

I live in an apartment with a balcony. I would like to grow my own vegetables and herbs such as cilantro. How do I build a vegetable garden on my balcony. Lots of sun shines on my balcony in the morning and some to none by mid-afternoon/evening. I appreciate your gardening wisdom.

I would like to make a small vegetable garden with squash cucumbers bell peppers strawberries and herbs!! I don’t know what to do! Will these vegetables grow well together if not could you give me some advice for beginners?

I live in Northern California where it is sunny and warm (no rain, will have to water manually) through the months of April-September. I would like to start a vegetable garden, maybe some herbs also. What would be a good starter garden for me? I would like to know what veggies/herbs I can grow and have a good turn out, and also maybe a how-to link as this is my first time. Also, what is the turn around time from planting to kitchen table? Any help is greatly appreciated

I am looking for hardy plants that tolerate a lot of rain. I live about 1/2 hour from the Oregon coast on the north side near Washington. This year in liu of a vegetable garden I would like to plant flowers and decorative plants & herbs. So it would be great to hear from other Oregon & Washington growers to see what grows good here. I plan to start a small vegetable garden soon in my backyard. I live in central Florida, have plenty of sunshine and decent temps for plants. I will only be planting (a) watermelons (b) various peppers (c) various herbs and (d) cucumbers. What I need to know…
(1) Is it alright to use packaged manure as your planting soil? It’s relatively cheap (about 2.00 a bag) and I assume it does the job. Or do I have to buy the super expensive stuff that costs $9.00 a bag and has numerous growing agents and chemicals?
(2) When should I fertilize and how often? What should I use for the fertilizer?
(3) Is there anything I should know seeing how I’m a novice to this hobby?
(4) should I attempt to plant some of the vegetable plants and herbs in the ground or in large planting pots?

My grandfather used to love to work in the garden, but because of mobility reasons he cant do that anymore. I would like to build him an indoor vegetable garden. I would love to get him one of those Aerogarden herb gardens but they are too pricey for me : ( I think something simple with 2-3 plants that doesn’t take up a lot of room would be perfect. He loves tomatoes. His house is old and the windows are hard to open so a windowsill garden would not work for him. What kind of lighting (flourescent or something? because he doesn’t have any windows that get good lighting from outside), soil, vegetables would I need or could he grow? Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.
