Whats the quickest and cheapest way to clear land?

I’ve got a very overgrown back yard (new to the house) and want to clear land and plant a garden, grass and flowers. We have worked weekend after weekend cutting, hauling, pruning and clearning and it’s still pretty crowded back there. Any experience and advice on clearing vines that have grown into tall OLD pine trees, clearing poison Ivy and poison Oak, digging up old dead bushes, and removing years worth of pine straw and leaves would be greatly appreciated. I can NOT afford to hire the work out but I can afford some great super tool or machine that would cut my load considerably if there is such a thing.

Whats wrong with genetically modified crops?

resistance to pesticides and pests, better and more consistant crops.
Take for example this hypothetical situation:
A plant is plagued by a fungus that lives in the soil. It affects the roots and eventually kills the plant. now say there are fields and fields of such plant, and one of them just happens to have developed a rare genetic mutation (mutations in DNA happen naturally in quite large amounts but few have any effects) that just so happens to make it resistant to that fungus. It grows to be healthy while all the plants around it die. This plant then flowers and seeds and produces a whole load more plants, all of which are resistant to this fungus. Now just suppose this plant has fruits and a farmer spots these plants are flourishing and takes them back to his farm and replaces his mouldy plants with these improved ones. Everybody is happy because there are now healthier plants and more fruits.
But say a scientist spots a plant that suffers from a similar problem and uses some genetic tools to tweak the plant to solve its problem and gives it to a farmer who is happy because his plants no longer die. This ‘modification’ may or may not have happened naturally given enough time.

The public are however not happy.

Now why is this?

Young Adult/Childeren’s Book About a Gypsy…Whats the title?

When I was young there was a book I read from our school library and as an adult I was trying to find it. Sadly my grown up mind can’t remember much about it (expect I loved it).

It was a book about a young gypsy girl and her raven companion. If I remember right the girl was some what of a loner. I remember she would dry herbs and the cover of the book was mostly white with a drawing of the gypsy and the raven. Thats about all I remember. The book would have had to been published before 1993. It was either young adult or a children’s book.

Not much to go on, but sadly thats all I have. Any one have any ideas or guesses?

Whats your opinion on Marijuana?

you know…Marijuana. Cannabis. Grass. Pot. Smoke. Dank. Herb. Purple rain. Ganja. Dope. Hemp. Yesco. Buddha, bomb, Wacky tabaky . Kush, Aunt Mary, sage, Cheeba, trees, Chronic, Indo, Golden leaf, or…..”The good stuff”

It’s the plant with a hundred names, including simply “weed,” which is what it grows like. It’s been grown for fiber, medicine and fun for thousands of years. In the United States, it currently has its own subculture and economy, and even its own decades-long guerrilla war–the War on Drugs–plus a multi-faceted and increasingly visible anti-war movement.

What do you think about this “product”…
does smoking grass carry negative stereotypes?

Whats the title of the movie where a killer kidnaps a girl…?

I think it has something to do with an apple orchard….but the little girl was in a play, and gets kidnapped by the killer, her mom then goes looking for her and somehow ends up drownin and seeing her daughter under water..thats how the movie ends. But the killer was like abused as a child, his mother would lock him in a trunk in the attack i think.
I can only remember bits and pieces of the movie, I saw it a long time ago. Please help :)

Smoking Weed… Whats Your Opinion?

I grew up in a family where smoking weed was not a big deal. None of my siblings, mother or father ever abused it or became in any way dependant. I don’t smoke now since I am watching my health closer and in the middle of switching jobs. However I have nothing bad to say about the herb itself, only some of the people that use it. While it is illegal, it can’t possibly be compared to cigerettes, which are the reason my grandmother won’ t be with us too much longer. I would tell my children that weed is not good for you and is something that if they choose to do they should do so once they have grown up and are capable to make an adult desion regarding something that can possibley effect you negetively if you are not strong in mind. Well, thats my opinion…whats yours?
